A vintage Tiger Cowrie shell hinged trinket box. This small, ovoid-shaped box is constructed from a natural cowrie shell, exhibiting a glossy, cream-to-tan exterior with distinctive dark brown/black spots. The shell is fitted with a brass or bronze-toned metal frame that forms the hinge and closure points. The interior of the shell is naturally iridescent and pearly white. The metal fittings include a simple hinge and small loops on either side, suggesting it may have once had a clasp or chain. No visible text or manufacturer’s markings are present.
