Another Great Auction from Doncaster Auction Centre, including Jewellery, Collectibles, Vintage, Retro, A Real Eclectic Mix
A British sterling silver souvenir spoon, featuring a figural finial depicting a bearded male bust, consistent with depictions of Louis IV, commemorating St. Louis. The reverse of the handle bears clear British hallmarks, including a lion passant for sterling silver, an anchor for the Birmingham assay office, a capital ‘A’ within a shield as the date letter, and a monarch’s head duty mark (likely George V or earlier). The maker’s mark appears to be ‘S&S’.
