An Indonesian Wayang Kulit shadow puppet, crafted from intricately cut and pierced animal hide. The flat, articulated puppet features extensive polychrome hand-painting in vibrant reds, greens, blues, pinks, and blacks, accented with gold-colored gilding throughout its highly stylized form, which includes a prominent red-faced head and an elaborate headdress. It is accompanied by three wooden control rods: a central pointed spike and two thinner rods with paddle-shaped handles for manipulating the articulated arms. A small white handwritten tag, not clearly legible for translation, is affixed to the central control rod.
