Another Great Auction from Doncaster Auction Centre, including Jewellery, Collectibles, Vintage, Retro, A Real Eclectic Mix
An African beaded mask, likely originating from Zimbabwe, featuring a stylized human or anthropomorphic face. It is constructed from a dark fibrous material, possibly woven or wrapped, and heavily adorned with numerous small beads in white, dark brown/black, and reddish-brown. These beads form geometric patterns including stripes, dots, and angular shapes across the forehead, cheeks, and around the prominent eyes and wide, toothed mouth. Two upward-curving, horn-like protrusions, also covered in matching beadwork, extend from the top. A dense fringe of natural, light brown fibrous material hangs from the sides and bottom, resembling hair or a beard. No visible text or markings are apparent.
