This lot comprises four vintage photograph albums, dating from the late 19th to early mid-20th century. The smallest is a blue album, likely late 19th to early 20th century, with worn, blue cardboard pages featuring oval and rectangular cut-outs holding multiple small, sepia-toned portrait photographs. Two larger, open albums, one with cream-colored pages and the other with black pages, both appearing to be early to mid-20th century, are extensively filled with numerous black and white landscape, architectural, and some portrait photographs. These albums are notable for their meticulous handwritten captions in English, including examples such as “Skipton Church – from an impression of the Holy Stone of the body drawn by a Saxon artist. From a parchment. A.D. 485 – 530”, “Oban herring season.”, “Glenoe Pass”, and “Piper Mc Phee”. The fourth item is a closed, dark-colored album, also likely early to mid-20th century, with a textured cover featuring a gold-embossed emblem or monogram on its front.
