A Christys London Halifax Borough Police Custodian Helmet. The helmet features a dark blue felt exterior and a black leather brim, with silver-toned metalwork. The prominent helmet plate displays a radiant starburst design topped with a crown, inscribed “HALIFAX BOROUGH POLICE” around the central royal cypher “ER” (Elizabeth Regina). Above this, a decorative metal crest, featuring a shield with a trefoil design and a dragon’s head, is attached to the helmet’s comb. Inside, a paper label identifies the maker as “CHRISTYS LONDON” with a size “7,” and additional markings “Sgt. 16” and “Small.” The leather sweatband is embossed with “MADE IN ENGLAND” and a circular maker’s mark also including “LONDON.”
