A Chad Valley Tin Litho Terrestrial Globe, Made in England. The globe features a lithographically printed tin surface, likely dating from the mid-20th century (c. 1930s-1940s) based on visible geographic labels such as ‘ETHIOPIA (ABYSSINIA)’, ‘BELGIAN CONGO’, and ‘PALESTINE’. It is mounted on a brass-toned metal meridian and supported by a dark, painted pressed steel or cast iron base with a black finial. Visible English text on the base includes the manufacturer’s name ‘CHAD VALLEY’, ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’, and a Royal Warrant crest stating ‘BY APPOINTMENT GLOBE MAKERS TO HER MAJESTY QUEEN MARY THE QUEEN MOTHER’, alongside clock setting instructions.
