A French cast bronze sculpture by Isidore Jules Bonheur, depicting two dogs resting closely together on a textured cushion. Executed in a realistic, sentimental animalier style, characteristic of the late 19th to early 20th century, the piece features a dark, reddish-brown patination with areas of visible greenish verdigris, particularly along the cushion’s rope-like border. The word “BONHEUR” is incised on the back of the cushion. It is firmly mounted on a polished black marble base. Likely intended as a bookend.
