A pair of small-scale framed landscape paintings, likely oil on board, depicting rural scenes with houses and trees, rendered in a style reminiscent of 20th-century British landscape art. Each painting is presented under glass, with a textured fabric mat (possibly burlap or linen) within a simple giltwood frame. Brass plaques affixed to the mats identify the artist as “JOHN SPENCER A. R. C. A. Hon. R. M. S.”; a matching signature is also visible on at least one painting. The reverse of the frames feature dealer labels: one from “Hibbert Brothers Fine Art Dealers, Established 1883, Sheffield,” which also notes potential restoration by “Robert N. Hibbert A.R.C.A. (Dip. R.A.),” and another partially obscured, handwritten label mentioning “Oil painting by John Spencer A.R.C.A.”
