An oil painting by Vladimir Tretchikoff (1906-1981), titled ‘Lady from the Orient’. This bust-length portrait depicts a female figure with dark skin, adorned with a vibrant teal turban, prominent gold earrings, a yellow strapless garment, and an elaborate, multi-colored necklace. Her gaze is directed downwards, and her lips are painted a striking red. The background features heavily textured, abstract brushstrokes primarily in shades of purple and green. The work is signed “TRETCHIKOFF” in the upper left corner. The painting is housed in a simple, flat, light-colored wooden frame. This aesthetic is characteristic of mid-20th century figurative and popular art.
