Another New Auction
An educational or commemorative display featuring a collection of five historical golf and crosse balls, presented on a dark brown, leather-wrapped base with stitched detailing. Each spherical object sits above a bronze-tone plaque identifying them as: “WOODEN CROSSE BALL CIRCA 1420,” “LEATHER & COW-HAIR COLF BALL CIRCA 1600,” “FEATHERY GOOSE FEATHERS CIRCA 1850,” “MACHINE CUTT GUTTA PERCHA CIRCA 1890,” and “HASKELL WOUNDING CIRCA 1990.” A central silver-tone plaque further notes “MAURITIUS PRO-AM 1999 WITH PETER ALLISS & ALEX HAY.” The balls vary in material from dark wood to speckled leather, a cream ball with black markings, a red grid-patterned ball, and a light textured ball.
