Another New Auction
This lot comprises a pair of Royal Mint Proof Coinage of Great Britain & Northern Ireland Sets. The first set, dated 1972, commemorates the Silver Wedding Anniversary (1947-1972) of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip, and is presented in a navy blue hinged box with gold foil lettering. The inscription reads “COINAGE OF GREAT BRITAIN & NORTHERN IRELAND 1972” and “A PROOF PIECE SPECIALLY STRUCK AT THE ROYAL MINT TO COMMEMORATE THE SILVER WEDDING ANNIVERSARY 1947-1972 OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II AND HRH PRINCE PHILIP.” The second set, dated 1982, is presented in a royal blue hinged box with silver foil lettering, marked “PROOF COINAGE OF GREAT BRITAIN & NORTHERN IRELAND 1982.” Both rectangular presentation boxes are constructed from a rigid board covered with a textured material.
