Another New Auction
A collection of sixteen silver-colored metallic coins, predominantly heptagonal fifty pence (50p) denominations, with two circular examples. The majority display their obverse with a crowned bust of Queen Elizabeth II, the date 1973, and the inscription “50 PENCE” or “NEW PENCE”. Visible commemorative reverse designs include a fleur-de-lis with the motto “BOY SCOUTS BE PREPARED”; a circular coin from the “BAILIWICK OF JERSEY” dated 1973, depicting a castle; another heptagonal coin displaying a dictionary definition for “FIFTY PENCE” (“FIFTY.ad S. [FIFTY], Saxon PENCE. n. plural of penny”); and a fourth heptagonal coin commemorating “VOTES FOR WOMEN” with figures, the acronym “WSPU”, and the dates “1903 2003”. The coins indicate an issuance period from 1973 into the early 21st century.
