Another New Auction
This lot comprises approximately two dozen small decorative boxes, exhibiting a variety of forms including round, oval, heart, egg, and rectangular shapes. The majority are crafted from white glazed porcelain or ceramic, adorned with vibrant transferware or hand-painted floral and bird motifs, often accented with gilt. Notable inclusions are a dark blue box featuring a faceted, mosaic-like surface, likely composed of glass or acrylic on a substrate; a light-colored stone box with mother-of-pearl inlay; and a small oval metallic lidded container, possibly brass. Also present is a small, reddish-brown book, likely paperboard or leather-bound, with the text “With the Compliments of GEO. AKINS BOOKMAKERS” visible on its cover. Another ceramic box bears the phrase “Life Is Sweet.” The collection suggests a 20th-century decorative style.
