Another New Auction
The lot comprises a collection of five books, featuring ‘THE DIARY OF MR JAMES MELVILL, 1556–1601,’ printed in Edinburgh in M.D.CCC.XXIX. (1829). This open text displays a decorative crest with the Latin motto ‘VERA ET AETERNA BONA’ (True and Eternal Goods). Also included are three upright-standing bound volumes, identified on their spines as ‘HOLY BIBLE’ in gold lettering. One is bound in red, and two in black, all appearing to be in leather or faux leather. A small ‘DB’ style emblem is visible at the base of one black spine. An additional partially visible open, older printed text with handwritten annotations is present in the background.
