A Protector Lamp & Lighting Co. Eccles Type GR6S Miners Safety Lamp. The lamp is constructed predominantly from polished silver-toned metal, likely chrome-plated brass or steel, for the main body. The base, internal mechanisms, and top carrying ring are formed from darker, patinated brass or bronze. It features a clear glass cylindrical section to protect the flame. A prominent circular brass plaque on the side is inscribed with “PROTECTOR LAMP & LIGHTING Co Ltd”, “TYPE GR6S”, “M & Q SAFETY LAMPS”, “APPROVAL No. B2/235”, and “MAKERS ECCLES”. Faint, partially illegible numerical and textual markings are also visible on the glass.
