Another New Auction
A 19th Century antique brass big betel nut box, featuring floral engraving and jali cut work. This ornate, rectangular metal box, likely crafted from brass or bronze, features a hinged lid and stands on four small feet. Both the lid and sides are extensively pierced with intricate patterns; the lid displays a central stylized floral or star motif surrounded by scrolling foliate designs and geometric grids, while the sides feature rows of punched holes and geometric patterns. A simple, fixed handle is present on the lid, and a basic, U-shaped clasp secures the front closure. No discernible text or maker’s marks are visible.
