Another New Auction
Gustave Flaubert, *The First Temptation of Saint Anthony*, Limited Edition, published by John Lane The Bodley Head Limited, London, 1924. Translated by René Francis and illustrated by Jean de Bosschère. This red cloth-bound hardcover book features an Art Deco aesthetic with gold gilt illustrations. The front cover displays a central circular gold gilt motif of a dancing figure, complemented by decorative elements in the corners. The spine is adorned with the title, author, illustrator, and publisher in gilt lettering, along with a lower gilt illustration depicting three figures. An internal limitation page states, “This edition is limited to 3000 copies, of which this is No. 1,666.” The title page includes a small black and white illustration of a horned figure presenting a flower to another figure.
