ANOTHER GREAT
A group of three Victorian German porcelain fairings, each designed as a hand-painted ceramic spill vase or match holder. Each piece depicts a distinct domestic vignette related to marriage and family life, executed in a sentimental, figurative style suggestive of the late 19th to early 20th century. Each features a rectangular base with gilded accents and an open back. The scenes include: a man with a candle near a curtain, captioned ‘Who is coming?’; a couple in bed reaching for a candle, captioned ‘The last in bed to put out the light’; and a woman in a canopy bed with a nurse holding an infant, captioned ‘Twelve months after marriage.’
