A 19th Century Burr Wood Veneer Travel Writing Box. This rectangular wooden box is veneered in burr wood, likely walnut, and features dark-stained or ebonized wood banding accentuating its edges. The hinged lid is adorned with a decorative, scalloped brass plate centrally, while the front panel displays a matching scalloped brass escutcheon around the keyhole. The interior is significantly compromised, with most of the original paper or fabric lining detached or missing, revealing the bare wooden structure. A small metal pin and a small, loose white object are present within the interior.
