ANOTHER GREAT
A 19th Century standing altar crucifix, crafted primarily from a polished golden-colored metal, likely brass or gilt bronze. The corpus of Christ is rendered in a contrasting reddish-brown patinated metal, possibly copper or bronze. The cross features a prominent sunburst motif behind the corpus and stylized foliate or cloud-like ornamentation at the ends of its arms. A placard above the corpus displays the inscription ‘INRI’ (Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum). The crucifix is mounted on an elaborate multi-tiered stand exhibiting Baroque-inspired scrolling foliage, pierced details, and a decorative flared base.
