ANOTHER GREAT
A vintage nautical liquid compass by C. Plath Hamburg, housed within a substantial circular brass binnacle or bowl, topped by a domed glass cover secured by a metal strap. The white compass card features standard cardinal and intercardinal points (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) and a 0-360 degree scale. Etched on the brass rim and visible on the compass card are the manufacturer’s details “C. PLATH HAMBURG”, alongside a small etched figure of a mariner with an instrument. A serial or model number “P 1005” is visible on the brass housing, next to a small adjustment dial marked “-5 0 5”.
