Buyer's premium:

A late 19th to early 20th-century French mantel clock, designed in a Neoclassical or Empire revival style. The clock features a drum-shaped movement housing resting on a multi-tiered architectural plinth. The case and base are crafted from dark, polished marble or slate, with the plinth’s edges notably exhibiting green veining, and embellished with gilt incised classical scrollwork and floral motifs. The clock face is a white dial with black Roman numerals (I-XII) and an exposed escapement, framed by an ornate gilt bronze or brass bezel. The hour and minute hands are dark metal. Inside, the brass and steel movement includes a striking bell and bears an illegible circular maker’s mark or number, likely incorporating a Brocot escapement. An accompanying metal winding key is also present.
