ANOTHER GREAT
A Russian Orthodox cast bronze triptych, late 19th century, depicting the Crucifixion. This hinged, three-panel devotional triptych features a central panel with an arched top, showing Christ on the cross, flanked by the Virgin Mary to the left and Saint John to the right. Above Christ’s head, the Cyrillic abbreviation “IC XC” (Jesus Christ) is visible, and the right figure is identified by “ІѠАННЪ” (John) in Cyrillic script. The inscription for the left figure is less distinct. The side panels feature smaller, roundel-framed busts of saints or religious figures.
