ANOTHER GREAT
After Antoine-Louis Barye (French, 1795-1875), a patinated bronze sculpture depicting a recumbent male lion with an open mouth, appearing to roar or snarl, its head turned slightly to the left. The lion exhibits detailed musculature and a full mane, resting upon a naturalistic textured ground base with elements of foliage. This central sculpture is mounted on a stepped, reddish-brown plinth, which in turn rests on an oval black marble base exhibiting white veining. No discernible text, signatures, or foundry marks are visible.
