ANOTHER GREAT
A pair of McEwan & Philp Club Gutta Ball & Feathery Ball replica golf bookends, dated c.1840-1865. Each bookend is crafted from a resin or composite material designed to resemble dark wood grain. The left bookend features a miniature golf club with a simulated wood head marked ‘M°EW AN’ and a patterned golf ball, set against a green flocked base. Its front plaque reads ‘M°EW AN CLUB GUTTA BALL c.1865’. The right bookend features a miniature golf club with a simulated wood head marked ‘PHILP’ and a patterned golf ball, also set against a green flocked base. Its front plaque states ‘PHILP CLUB FEATHERY BALL c.1840’. The undersides of both bookends bear oval labels with ‘HISTORY CRAFT’ branding, stating ‘A0965 Golf Club Bookends’, ‘© 2001 Design Cast Ltd.’, and ‘Licensee DGC Ltd.’.
