ANOTHER GREAT
A WW1 Verdun Brass Trench Art Vase of cylindrical form, adorned with extensive repoussé decoration depicting a climbing rose vine motif with prominent blossoms and leaves. The rim features a scalloped or shell-patterned edge, and a cast lion head applique with an open mouth is visible on at least one side. Likely crafted from a repurposed artillery shell, the interior shows significant oxidation and corrosion, particularly at the bottom, which features a central hole and several smaller peripheral holes, suggestive of drainage or former attachment points, indicating its potential use as a planter or jardiniere. A white sticker with “1001” is present on the exterior, and a stamped or etched “150” is visible on the underside.
