ANOTHER GREAT
A late 19th century silver-plated cruet set, the stand attributed to George Bowen Ltd., Birmingham (circa 1877-1890), and the ceramic flasks attributed to Taylor Tunnicliffe, Shelton, Stoke (circa 1870-1900). The set comprises two ceramic decanter-style flasks presented within a silver-plated metal stand with a central handle. Each flask features an orange-brown ribbed, glazed upper section above a molded basket-weave pattern in brown, bearing white text “WILLIE” on one side and “PECK O’MAUT” on the other, referencing the Robert Burns song “A Willie Brewed a Peck O’Maut.” The flasks are fitted with simple metal stoppers. The stand itself exhibits a woven texture and is supported by four ornate scroll-footed legs. Hallmarks on its underside include “A EP” (electroplate), a crown, a stylized mustache-like symbol, and the number “8499”.
