Another Great Auction
A hand carved wooden vessel, resembling a teapot, featuring a rounded body, a short spout, a looped handle, and a removable lid. Crafted from medium-brown wood with visible grain, its surface is extensively carved in relief with various animal motifs, including an animal head finial (possibly feline) on the lid, and depictions of a heart, an animal head (resembling a bear or large cat), and an elephant on the body. The carving style suggests a folk art or ethnographic aesthetic. No visible text or maker’s marks are present. Likely Southeast Asian, possibly Philippine, dating to the mid-20th century.
