A Miners Safety Lamp by The Protector Lamp & Lighting Co Ltd, Eccles, Type GR6S. This industrial safety lamp is consistent with early-to-mid 20th-century design. It is primarily constructed from a silver-toned metal, likely nickel-plated steel or brass, for the upper section, and a patinated brass or bronze for the base and supporting bars, enclosing a clear glass cylinder. A prominent oval brass plaque on the upper body is inscribed with “THE PROTECTOR LAMP & LIGHTING CO LTD”, “TYPE GR6S”, “M & Q”, “SAFETY LAMPS”, “APPROVAL No. B2/233”, “34”, “MAKERS”, and “ECCLES”. The internal glass cylinder also features a faded mark including “GR S” and “THE PROTECTOR LAMP & LIGHTING CO LTD” beneath a crown motif.
