Another Great Auction
This lot comprises four religious devotional crucifixes, each featuring a corpus of Christ mounted on a cross, exhibiting variations in materials and style. One crucifix has a yellow-stained wooden cross adorned with ornate silver-tone metal caps and a matching silver-tone metal corpus. A second piece features a plain, light-colored wooden cross with a bronze-tone metal corpus, notable for a rectangular white marking on its chest. The third crucifix presents a dark brown, textured cross, likely crafted from resin or wood, displaying a detailed polychrome, flesh-toned corpus with painted wounds; a scroll above the corpus clearly shows the inscription “INRI,” translating from Latin as “Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum” (“Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews”). The final crucifix consists of a simple light-colored wooden cross supporting a gold-tone metal corpus.
The tallest crucifix measures approximately 18 inches.
