Another Great Auction
A Kings of England Eadgar Silver Penny, dated 959-975 AD. The circular, dark-toned metallic coin, likely silver or a silver alloy, is consistent with a medieval hammered issue. One side features a central cross potent or star motif within a plain circular border, surrounded by highly stylized and partially visible Latin-script lettering, including what appears to be ‘REX’. The opposing side displays a heavily worn profile bust, possibly a crowned ruler, facing right, also encircled by fragmented, largely unidentifiable lettering.
