A Cnut Silver Penny, Short Cross Type, dating from 1016-1035AD. This medieval coin features an irregular, hand-struck flan and dark patination. The obverse displays a highly stylized profile bust facing right, accompanied by a plant-like motif to the left and an indistinct legend around the rim. The reverse is designed with a prominent long cross, with circular pellets or elements in each quadrant, encircled by a beaded border and an equally indistinct legend. The material is consistent with silver or a silver-rich alloy.
