A vintage Hertwig German ceramic figurine depicting a mare and foal. The glazed ceramic figurine features a brown mare standing over a reclining brown foal, presented in a naturalistic style on an unglazed, oval cream-colored base. The figures exhibit realistic brown and black coloration with white facial markings on the mare, finished with a high-gloss glaze. The underside of the base features a gold-colored maker’s mark, comprising a stylized letter (possibly ‘K’ or ‘R’) topped by a small crown or flourish, with an additional character (perhaps ‘2’ or ‘S’) below. Its period is consistent with mid to late 20th-century decorative ceramics.
