Buyer's premium:

A large, ornate metal challenge shield, likely silver-plated, featuring elaborate relief decoration typical of the early 20th century. The central design depicts two allegorical female figures flanking a medallion with three male figures in an industrial or port landscape. Engraved text at the top reads “LEST WE FORGET”, followed by “DONCASTER & DISTRICT CHALLENGE SHIELD” and “PANEL GAMES LEAGUE”. Below a decorative bow, further inscription details: “This Shield WAS PRESENTED TO THE PANEL LEAGUE JOINTLY BY THE FOLLOWING BRANCHES ADWICK-LE-STREET, ASKERN, DONCASTER, DENABY, MEXBOROUGH & WOODLANDS 1920”. Accompanying the main shield is a group of smaller, detached shield-shaped plaques, intended as annual winner plates. These plaques display engraved dates ranging from “1920-1921” to “1926-7”, along with “WON BY” and various club names including “ROSSINGTON CLUB”, “WOODLANDS CLUB”, “DONCASTER COMRADES”, “BENTLEY CLUB”, and “ADWICK LE STREET BRANCH”.
