Another Great Auction
A World War I brass trench art artillery shell casing, repurposed from an 18-pounder Mark II (18 PR II) shell. The cylindrical casing features etched decorative bands of zigzag patterns at the top and bottom, with a central engraved floral motif resembling a rose in a vase. Inscriptions on the body include ‘JOSEPH-L. KONTINE,’ ‘1919,’ and ‘SOUVENIR de BOILLY E…’ (Souvenir of Boilly E…). The base is stamped with military manufacturing details, including ‘1916,’ ’15-12-15,’ and ‘H J.’
