Another Great Auction
A tall, cylindrical ceramic vessel, likely a vase or brush pot, crafted from a dark brown, unglazed or matte-finished earthenware or stoneware. Its exterior is extensively decorated with deeply carved Chinese characters, forming a textured surface that incorporates a prominent, stylized, and dimpled pattern resembling a dragon or abstract natural element. On one side, a large, calligraphic character “福” (fú), meaning “fortune,” “blessing,” or “good luck,” is highlighted in black against the brown textured background. Other carved characters, including “德” (dé – virtue) and “鏡” (jìng – mirror), appear to form a continuous text, suggesting poetry or a philosophical passage.
