Another Great Auction
A pair of lacquer boxes each of wooden construction. The upper box features a black lacquer-like finish with gilt or bronze-colored decoration depicting an East Asian landscape scene, including trees and structures, and has a visible keyhole. Its interior is dark, possibly lacquered. The lower box is finished in black lacquer or ebonized wood, with its lid featuring a light wood panel inlaid or veneered with a European landscape scene showing a bridge over water; faint text on this panel’s lower right edge appears to read ‘V.A. PARKER’. The lower box is lined with a bright blue textured fabric.
