A Mexican Aztec hand-carved onyx marble chess set. This complete set comprises 32 chess pieces, hand-carved from onyx marble, with one set in dark, likely black or dark grey, and the opposing set exhibiting variegated pink, white, and beige tones, both finished with a polish. The pieces feature a simplified, traditional Staunton-like design. The set is accompanied by a light-colored wooden storage box. The wooden box bears prominent black brush script, which translates from Japanese as ‘御影石’ (granite), ‘黒御影’ (black granite), and ‘紅御影’ (red granite).
