A Makishi Painted Masked African Mask from Zimbabwe. This ornate mask features a stylized human-like face with prominent horns, entirely covered in meticulously applied small, cylindrical beads or similar elements in black, white, and reddish-brown hues. Geometric patterns, including stripes, squares, and dots, are intricately arranged across the forehead, around the eyes, and on the mouth area. Long, twisted strands of natural fiber, resembling jute or sisal, form a distinctive fringe around the perimeter of the face and descend from the chin. No visible text or markings are discernible.
