A Verdigris Finished Cast Iron Dragonfly Sundial by Whitehall Products. This garden sundial is constructed from cast metal, likely iron. It features a circular dial plate supported by a columnar pedestal and a scrolled, openwork round base. The dial plate is marked with Roman numerals for hours, along with the months of the year (JAN, FEB, MAR, etc.), associated numerical values, and the words “ADD”, “SUBTRACT”, and “MINUTES”, indicating an equation of time scale. A decorative cast metal gnomon, with a distinct brass-toned tip, projects from the center. The piece exhibits a dark, possibly painted or patinated finish with contrasting lighter highlights on the dial’s raised details.
