Another Great Auction 6th November
An irregularly shaped, small ceramic dish by Van der Meer & Schoep N.V. of Rotterdam, Netherlands, featuring a hand-painted folk art style design. The interior displays a central yellow scroll motif surrounded by small teal and orange floral elements, all bordered by a dark blue dashed line, set against a creamy, speckled ground. The off-white exterior exhibits visible crazing throughout the glaze and is accented by a reddish-brown painted rim and thin blue and red lines. The dates “1898” and “1938” are hand-painted in black on the exterior. The underside bears a clear impressed mark reading “VAN DER MEER & SCHOEP N.V.” and “ROTTERDAM.” This piece was likely intended as a trinket dish or spoon rest.
