Another Great Auction 6th November
A Junghans German mantel clock, featuring a dark-stained wooden case in an architectural style. The case is characterized by a stepped base, spiral-turned columns, and a multi-tiered top surmounted by a turned finial. An ornate brass dial surround, embellished with scrolling motifs, frames a circular dial with black Arabic numerals 1-12 on a silvered or painted metal surface, with two dark-colored hands. The hinged front door encloses a glass pane, revealing the dial. A rear access door exposes a brass plate clock movement with a visible pendulum suspension spring and a dark rectangular bob. Faint markings, including an ‘X’ and a symbol resembling crossed arrows, are visible on the movement and pendulum bob respectively, consistent with Junghans manufacture.
