Another Great Auction 6th November
A German WWII Military Identity Disc, commonly known as a dog tag. This oval-shaped tag is made from a ferrous metal, likely steel, and features four small circular holes for attachment. A central vertical perforation designed to allow the tag to be broken into two identical halves remains intact. Stamped into both sides of the tag, though partially obscured by the extensive degradation, are the numbers “423” and the text “2./Ers. Batl. 1. Rgt. HQ”. The German abbreviation “Ers. Batl.” translates to “Replacement Battalion,” indicating its German military origin from the World War II period.
