An Antique Japanese Black Lacquered Wood Folding Wall Shelf. This decorative wall-mounted shelf features a scalloped horizontal shelf and an elaborately shaped, curvilinear vertical back panel with a pointed apex. The black lacquered finish is hand-painted with a naturalistic motif, including a cluster of yellow and white flowers with green foliage, a small bird in flight, and an insect. The style is consistent with a late 19th to early 20th-century aesthetic.
