Another Great Auction 6th November
This lot comprises a vintage collection of Bond brand knitting machine components and a substantial archive of paper knitting patterns. The items include a clear plastic container holding various Bond brand knitting machine parts, notably a long metal needle bed or comb and several blue and white plastic components, likely a carriage and other accessories. Also present are four instructional Bond booklets titled “How The BOND Knits” (Book 2), “How to do it!” (Book 3), and “Useful hints!” (Book 4). The extensive paper archive consists of numerous pattern booklets and leaflets from various brands such as Patons, Peter Pan, Robin, King Cole, Sirdar, and Hayfield, many specifying “Double Knitting” yarn, organized partly in a green plastic folder hand-labeled “Bond Knitting Patterns.” The styles depicted in the patterns, particularly on covers like “Patons promise” and “Baby Knit Bambino,” suggest a period predominantly from the 1970s to 1980s.
