The majority are awards from dance competitions, with a strong emphasis on “HIGHLAND DANCING,” evidenced by inscriptions such as “FESTIVAL OF HIGHLAND DANCING” and depictions of dancers in traditional Scottish attire, alongside Scottish motifs including the Lion Rampant, thistles, and swords. Specific festival names visible within the collection include “MILTON,” “DUFFTOWN,” “ROBERTSON,” “GORDON,” and “WATT,” with awards such as “2nd” place also present. A smaller number of items reference “BALLROOM” dancing, specifying “CHACHACHA” and “AMATEUR” competitions, and some bear organizational initials such as “B.A.T.D.” (British Association of Teachers of Dancing) and “I.D.M.A.” (International Dance Masters Association). The items are predominantly circular or shield-shaped, with some featuring decorative borders or starburst designs. The collection is estimated to date from the mid to late 20th century.
