A Chinese carved jadeite figurine depicting Budai, the corpulent, smiling figure commonly identified as the “Laughing Buddha,” seated and holding a large fan-shaped leaf over his shoulder and a strand of prayer beads in his left hand. He is accompanied by a small child figure standing beside his left leg. The carving features intricate details of drapery and foliage behind the main figure. The material displays a variegated coloration, predominantly milky white with areas of pale green and earthy brown/tan mottling. No discernible text or markings are visible.
