A Victorian Pinchbeck Lovers Knot Brooch, set with a purple paste gemstone. The large, oval, faceted, translucent light purple gemstone is bezel-set within a swirling, organic, knot-like frame of pinchbeck. The metalwork is embellished with engraved foliate or floral motifs, particularly around the gemstone bezel and along the prominent curves, suggesting an Art Nouveau influence. The reverse features a simple C-clasp pin mechanism with a silver-toned steel pin.
