A collection of World War II British campaign and service medals, comprising five individual awards. The group includes three bronze-colored star-shaped campaign medals, each featuring the “GR VI” (George VI) royal cypher. One of these is additionally marked “1939-1945” (the 1939-1945 Star). Also present are two circular silver-colored medals. One depicts the effigy of King George VI and is inscribed with the Latin phrase “GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX ET INDIAE IMP” (George VI by the Grace of God, King of all Britons, and Emperor of India). The second circular medal, identified through web intelligence as a Defence Medal, depicts the effigy of King George VI and is inscribed “GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F:D: IND: IMP” (George VI by the Grace of God, King of all Britons, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India). Each medal is accompanied by its distinct fabric ribbon and is presented in what appears to be original tissue paper packaging. A small bronze clasp marked “1ST ARMY” is also included. The items are housed alongside an original brown cardboard postal box, addressed to “Mr. B. A. Hepworth” in Yorkshire, bearing the markings “O. H. M. S.” (On Her Majesty’s Service) and an “OFFICIAL PAID” stamp, indicating original issue to the named recipient.
